 Read First:

  • Presets (a.k.a. "general presets" or "workflow presets") make global changes to an image. They cannot be stacked and should be applied alone or before using a tool or layer preset. If a preset doesn't look quite right on an image, check the exposure slider first.
  • Tool presets also make global changes to an image. They can be stacked and should be applied alone or after using a general preset. Tool presets change one preset setting, but keep all other previous changes constant.
  • Layer presets make global changes to an image. They create a solid mask or layer over an image. They can be stacked and should be applied alone or after using a general preset. Layer presets don't change any preset settings.
  • Brushes make local changes to an images. Brushes may be used in addition to any type of preset. Lightroom brushes are installed and accessed differently than presets.

Step 1: Receive Your Download Email

Immediately after your purchase, you will receive a download email. If you haven't received this email, check your spam folder and add us as a safe sender. If you still can't find it, please reach out to us at There may be a problem with the email that you originally provided.

Step 2: Download the Presets

Your download will contain a zipped file. Back-up this file for future reference. Each purchase comes with three lifetime downloads. Can't find your downloaded file? Downloaded files are often found in the downloads file on your hard drive.

Step 3: Unzip the Files

If you have a PC: Right-click on the downloaded folder and then click “extract all”.  If you have a MAC: Double-click on the downloaded folder and your computer will automatically extract all.

Save the extracted files in a documented location on your computer.

Step 4: Open the Adobe Camera Raw Settings Folder on your Computer

  • Mac Users: Users>YOUR NAME>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Camera Raw> Settings

On Mac, you may need to press  + G or shift + + G and paste the above path into the Go To sheet, as the User Library folder may not be visible.

  • Windows Users:  C:>Users-[your user name]>AppData>Roaming>Adobe>Camera Raw>Settings

* If you have trouble finding the Settings Folder, visit Troubleshootingat the bottom of these instructions.

Step 5: Paste in the Presets
Find the folder containing your downloads and copy all your .xmp files from the presets folder. If you have pasted previous .xmp files in the Settings Folder, you will see those files in the Settings Folder. Add your new .xmp files to this folder by pasting the .xmp files into the Settings Folder.

Once your presets are copied to, or installed in, the settings folder, they are compatible with both Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.

What about Lightroom Brushes?

There is no change to the file formatting or installation location of brushes. Brushes are still installed in the local adjustment presets folder and they are still formatted as .lr files. Remember, Lightroom brushes are only compatible with Lightroom 5, 6, and Classic CC. They are not compatible with CC. In CC, however, all presets can also be used as brushes. Here are instructions for installing brushes.
